This painting, titled "I Was Born This Way," marks the fourth time I have explored this pattern and idea in my artwork. Each iteration features different backgrounds, surroundings, and materials, making every piece unique. Creating this series is a therapeutic act of self-care, a way for me to continually remind myself that I am okay just as I am.
The repetitive process helps me combat the negative messages and judgments from family, friends, and society that have engraved self-doubt and inner sabotage into my soul. By revisiting and recreating this painting over and over, I strive to reinforce a new mindset and embrace new experiences, learning to accept and love myself just the way I was born.
