The inspiration behind this painting is a poem from Amir Hushang Ebtehaj, also known by his pen name H. E. Sayeh (Persian: ه.ا.سایه, lit. Shadow), was an Iranian poet of the 20th century, whose life and work spans many of Iran's political, cultural, and literary upheavals. The rough translation of the poem is: " The shackles on my feet are broken open, but my wings are tied".
