Description:

This self-portrait tells the story of my life as a queer migrant, torn between two worlds. I’ve lived in Germany for over 15 years, yet here I remain a “foreigner.” Iran, however, was never truly my home— as a queer person, I was not welcome there; my mere existence was forbidden and life-threatening. The heavy concrete block on my shoulders represents this double burden of alienation. The labyrinthine lines on my body reflect the struggle to find a path. The scar on my leg, shaped like the map of Iran, is a reminder of the wounds of origin and exile. This image speaks of identity, loss, and the relentless attempt to find a place to belong.
